Workshop Program
Schedule
This year's NuFact is half a day longer than last year's, due to the extra time taken by presentation
and discussion of the ISS report. It seemed better to (slightly) lengthen the meeting, rather than
ignore important topics entirely, severely cut back the time available for Working Group sessions,
or cram too many talks into too little time.
The Workshop will open on Thursday, August 24 with a broad overview of the current state of
neutrino physics, plans for the near and more distant future, presentation of the ISS Working Group reports,
and a preview of the NuFact Working Group sessions.
The middle of the meeting follows a fairly consistent pattern, with 1.5 or 2 hours of plenary talks before
the coffee break, Working Group Sessions before and after lunch, and a second set of plenary talks in the late
afternoon.
The final day of the Workshop, Wednesday August 30, will be a half-day, with the traditional Working Group
summaries and a final discussion of the ISS report and future strategy.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Coffee Breaks
Continental breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 during each day of meetings at the Beckman Center.
Note that the conference hotel also offers a complimentary full (American) breakfast buffet each morning,
thus nobody should arrive at the first talk hungry.
A full hot lunch buffet, including vegetarian fare, will be served during each day of meetings at
the Beckman Center, and is included in the conference registration fee. Relaxed indoor and outdoor dining
with ample seating will be available.
Fresh coffee will be available in the Atrium all day (but may not be taken into the auditorium). There will be
the usual scheduled coffee breaks in mid-morning and mid-afternoon; the Beckman Center prides itself on its
unconventional "themed" coffee breaks.
Welcome Reception
A welcome reception will be held at the meeting site after the first day of the Workshop,
Thursday August 24.
Conference Banquet
The conference banquet is included in the registration fee, and will be held on
the evening of Monday, August 28 at the Montage, a world-class resort located in
Laguna Beach. Dinner will follow a sunset reception near the beach.
A charge of $75 per additional adult guest will apply, to partially defray the cost
of extra meals. Children's meals will be covered by the conference.
If you would like to request children's meals, vegetarian or other special dietary
arrangements for the banquet, please
email the Conference Secretariat.
Open Day and Excursion
Saturday, August 26 is an open day (no meetings). An
optional organized excursion to the Getty Center is available for an additional
charge. Advance reservations are required.
Southern California is a tourist mecca, featuring
beaches, mountains, exotic desert landscapes, unspoiled islands, and limitless commercial attractions
(Disneyland, Universal Studios, etc.) all within about an hour's drive of the meeting. The more adventurous
could take advantage of cheap roundtrip flights from John Wayne airport (5 minutes from the hotel) to Las Vegas,
for under $200...
